My freshman year of college, I met Izzy in one of my classes at Southern Utah University. We went camping & exploring in various National Parks throughout the year for this class. So it’s safe to say that after MANY hours in cars, countless nights at campgrounds, endless miles hiked, and an insane amount of games played late into the night together, everyone in the class got pretty close!
Izzy is an angel and has a contagious laugh! You could always find her at the campground no matter how dark it was, all because of her contagious and distinct laugh! After my freshman year, I moved to a different city, and I wasn’t able to see many of the friends I made at SUU for a bit.
A couple years later, on a hot afternoon in Zion National Park, Izzy & Tanner met me in East Zion National Park. I was hoping that clouds would sneak in that day, but we were given lots & lots of bright sunshine! Thankfully we found some shade here and there to help us stay cool!
East Zion is a gem that is often over looked. Once you’re in Zion National Park, you have a few options. 1.) Take the park shuttle down the main canyon, where you can find Angels Landing, the Narrows and many of the wildly popular hiking trails. 2.) Take your own car, pass the road that leads down the main canyon, and experience East Zion. In East Zion, you’ll find lots of little pull off parking lots with trailheads near by. On that road you can wind up the switchbacks and go through the famous Mt. Carmel Tunnel. After you pass through the tunnel there are even more hiking options.
We chose to spend this toasty afternoon in East Zion, where we could freely explore the area (while following Leave No Trace principles, of course!). At the beginning of summer, Zion is stunning! There is so much greenery, blooming cacti, and lots of sunshine!
It’s always amazing to see people I’ve known previously with their significant others. Izzy & Tanner were truly made for each other!
As I expected there was so much laughter & love that afternoon!
